How Can You Promote Computer Security?
Spread the Word with OnGuard Online!

Hand out free publications. Whether you put them in your public library, hand them out at a meeting or event, or use them for employee information fairs, you can get free OnGuard Online publications. For 50 or more copies, visit ftc.gov/bulkorder. For less than 50 copies of publications, call 1-877-FTC-HELP.
Make OnGuard Online materials your own. Add your organization's logo to this high-resolution PDF and print your own brochures through a commercial printer. Or, include OnGuard Online information in your company newsletter, on your intranet, or in emails to employees, customers, constituents, and partners. Consider creating your own web page that uses materials from OnGuardOnline.gov.
Talk about it. Ask clubs, local government agencies, or community organizations you're involved with to post a link to OnGuardOnline.gov on their websites.
Pass it on. Send information about OnGuard Online to organizations that may want to partner in the campaign, which could include local trade organizations, community and senior centers, computer and electronic stores, chambers of commerce, univerisities, community colleges, adult education programs, and places of worship. Ask them to promote the website and its messages.
Involve the media. If you're part of a business, share OnGuard Online materials with your public affairs staff. Ask for their ideas on getting the word out to the media and your partners, clients, and employees. If you're willing to be interviewed by the media on the topic, let them know. Host a brown bag lunch or breakfast for reporters in your area who cover business, personal finance, lifestyle, and education. Ask for space on transit or electronic billboards — on expressways, and near banks, car dealerships, fast food restaurants, and motels — to display messages about online safety. Call a local television station to suggest a news story on the importance of safe online behavior, and refer them to OnGuardOnline.gov.
